Web 2.0 Expo: Get There And Grow.

Remember those tips I gave you about taking company trips in a bad economy (see Trippin' )? Well put them to use and get to Web 2.0 Expo - Platforms For Growth in NYC, September 27-30, 2010. According to the site:

"The program at Web 2.0 Expo will spotlight experts, leaders, and under-the-radar innovators, and in the spirit of Web 2.0, there will be ample opportunity for attendees to connect, contribute, and collaborate. Web 2.0 Expo is a place for creativity, engineering, and innovation, on three conversations:

  • Education: a vetted, cohesive conference program to maximize the sharing of knowledge and expertise around creating the next-generation web
  • Tradeshow: a traditional tradeshow floor introducing builders of the Web to providers of tools, technology, services, and infrastructure
  • Networking: a meeting ground fostering face-to-face business development for entrepreneurs, VCs, partnerships, and recruitment"
If I get an opportunity to go, here's a short list of featured speakers I'd check out:

Baratunde Thurston - Web & Politics editor at The Onion, co-founder of Jack & Jill Politics and host of PopSci’s Future Of on Science Channel.

Rana Sobhany - brand storyteller and co-founder of the Medialets , rich media advertising for mobile.

Ben Lerer - CEO and co-founder of Thrillist, your "daily email shot" of fashion, food and gadgets.

Gabe Zinchermann - Author of Game-Based Marketing (see my review ).

Here's another helpful tip - register early for discounts — and there is a discount for those who sign up by August 5. I also have a discount code — webny10fos — to enter when registering. (Thanks for the hook-up, Gabe.)

Let me know if my tips help you get there - or anywhere.
